The aim of this round table, organized within the framework of UMR 8167 “Orient and the Mediterranean” and the Doctoral School “Ancient and Medieval Worlds” of the Sorbonne University, was to illustrate the exceptional richness of Anatolia. The studies range from the end of the Mycenaean period to the imperial period. Geographically, we find here historical works on the regions of Troy, Lycia, Cappadocia, Armenia and Anatolia as a whole and linguistic works on the prehistory of Greek with the help of its closest neighbour, the Phrygian, on the relationship between Greek and Lycian and on the invention of the Greek and Anatolian alphabets.
